QA Analyst
Responsibilities:

  • Planning, conducting, and documenting system tests Merrick’s suite of products ProCount, Rio, DynaCap, FieldCap and Regulatory modules
  • Documenting system defects
  • Conducting regression tests
  • Performing other software quality control functions
  • Communicate with Management, Development Team, and End Users/Customers to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and report project status.
  • Provide customer support by taking calls and emails from clients regarding set up questions and problems
  • Special projects, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and testing skills/aptitude.
  • Must have a good understanding of problem analysis and problem solving.
  • Candidate should be self motivated, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Upstream oil and gas knowledge, particularly relating to field data capture, production accounting and regulatory agency requirements a plus
  • Proficient in PC, Network and software set up
  • Proficient in at least one standard query tool: Microsoft’s Query Analyzer, Oracle’s SQL, Access
  • Ability to write and modify bat files
  • Experienced using MS Windows Operating Systems
  • Engineering or Computer Science graduates preferred
  • Database Administration experience a plus (MS SQL Server/Oracle/Sybase).
  • SQL programming, VP, PowerBuilder or C++ experience helpful
  • College Degree Required, Advanced Degree a Plus

 

Help Desk Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the front line in customer support by taking calls and emails from clients regarding set up questions and problems for Merrick’s suite of products.
  • Log reported customer support issues in Help Desk tool
  • Follow up on “critical” issues
  • Work with Client Service, QA and Dev team to determine if reported problems are “bugs” requiring scheduling for program fixes or related to set up issues requiring additional support
  • Keep track of status of reported issues through resolution whether resolved by yourself or others
  • Assist in keeping a list of known errors and possible “work arounds” (until they are fixed) to be published on line for users
  • Log frequently ask questions (FAQ) and work with team to build on-line FAQ database
  • Special projects, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communications skills – verbal and written
  • Comfortable working with various software applications: MS Office, Acrobat PDF and help desk applications.
  • Proficiency in at least one standard query tool such as ISQL, Microsoft’s Query Analyzer, Oracle’s SQL, Access is a plus.
  • Engineering or Computer Science graduates preferred
  • Upstream oil and gas knowledge, particularly relating to field data capture, production accounting and/or regulatory is also a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a web portal also a plus
  • College Degree Required, Advanced Degree a Plus

 

Senior Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Support of Merrick’s suite of products
  • User training
  • Project Management – serve as driving force for setting implementation schedules, co-ordinating resources etc. with the client
  • Assisting in data population, implementation and conversion for clients
  • Work as part of overall design team by communicating client needs to the company
  • Consulting services and special projects, as needed – be aware of opportunities relating to our core skill that may not directly relate to sale of software
  • Travel to customer sites will required

Qualifications:

  • Upstream oil and gas knowledge, particularly relating to field data capture, how to do allocations (i.e. the concepts), regulatory agency requirements for production and well test filings. Specialized knowledge of related areas e.g. Petroleum Engineering etc. a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of each of Merrick’s suite of products and how they work together
  • Proficient in at least one standard query tool such as ISQL, Microsoft’s Query Analyzer, Oracle’s SQL, Access
  • Proficient in basic PC set up, comfortable working with PC directory and network structures
  • Good communications skills preferred – verbal and written
  • Organizational and management skills a must for those used in Project Management capacity
  • College Degree Required, Advanced Degree a Plus

 

Software Engineer
The Software Engineer will work with other developers, project managers, clients and various related teams to design, develop, maintain & document software for Merrick products, ensuring that software adheres to Merrick standards. The tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analysis of business requirements.
  • Development of technical design specifications.
  • Development of maintainable commented code.
  • Development & successful execution of unit tests.
  • Development & maintenance of appropriate documentation.
  • Assist Customer Service/Helpdesk staff in problem identification & rectification.
  • Monitor time spent on tasks & submission of weekly timesheet.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or Business Administration, or Petroleum Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 5 yrs experience with some or all of the following:

  • Translation of customer requests into technical specifications.
  • User Interface design.
  • Implementation & maintenance of a complex, comprehensive information management system.
  • Some application support experience (i.s., troubleshooting, diagnosis, resolution)
  • Software engineering skills in a Windows environment.
  • Experience working with at least one source control system.
  • Providing technical support to team members.
  • Basic Microsoft operating system administration & networking skills.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.

Specifically:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle is a must.
  • Proficiency in 1 or 2 of the following is required: C#, VB.Net, Java.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Socket programming, N-Tier development, custom UI control development, Compact .Net Framework,
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly the production arena is a plus
  • Experience in developing scalable applications
